Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Born as the only daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney was raised with four brothers. Although she was a child with a goal of becoming a journalist, it wasn't until the time of her high school days that she began modeling. After moving away from New York City and gaining experiences in commercials at New York did she achieve an aspiring career as court reporters. Her first film role was as a teenage innocent as a child in All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney's career has been filled by a myriad of TV films and dramas. Personally, her professional one has nt had a happy and successful. The talented actor has been battling alcoholism and she has experienced two divorces. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
